A Note From The Chief

"Welcome to the town of Jonesville, Virginia.  We're a peaceful community located in the mountains of Southwest Virginia.  Our area is full of both natural beauty and history.  Our officers are sworn to "Protect and Serve", and we are serious about our job."

"I served the citizens of Lee County well for 25 years with the Lee County Sheriff's Office and will continue to put forth the same effort as Chief of Police for the Town of Jonesville and it's residents.  Everyone will be treated with the dignity and respect each situation deserves.  We will do the job entrusted to us to the best of our ability without prejudice."

"We expect the department to have a higher degree of discipline than in the past with more training and higher expectations.  The department will improve it's relationship with the community, as well as the Sheriff's Office and the State Police."

"Our primary objectives are simple. Public Safety, Law Enforcement, Traffic Control and Parking Enforcement."

"Change will not happen overnight.  It will take time and work to make improvements.  There's an old saying, "No Man is An Island", and so I may call on many of you for your input.  At the same time, I want the public to know, our door will be open to any and all."

"I ask for your prayers on our behalf, to do our job with knowledge, order and compassion."

      Jonesville Police Chief, James Hartsock
